CLIENT: UNIVERSITY OF MINES, TARKWA

The University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa was established in November 2004 to provide higher education in mining, technology and related sciences, and to act as a catalyst for the development of mining and technology.

The university wanted to install modern laboratories which used computers to simulate activities that occurred in traditional mechanical, hydraulic, electronics and electronic Laboratories. The hardware was to be supplied by of Israel but the infrastructure had to be put in place first. The major challenge to this project was that the only one of such project had ever been implemented in Ghana and indeed in the entire west African sub region. This was at The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, and even that was not up to the scale to be implemented at Tarkwa.

CLIENT: GOLDEN TULIP HOTEL KUMASI CITY

SOLUTIONS: SECURITY/ SURVEILLANCE

The Golden Tulip Kumasi City is a four star first class superior hotel located in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region. This magnificent 160 room hotel offers other facilities such as a well-equipped Business Centre, a Forex Bureau, a Salon, a gym with aerobics, a swimming pool specially designed for adults and another one for children, a Travel & Tour company etc. To maintain its standard as one of the best hotels in the world, Artikas was chosen after a competitive bid to install a modern state-of-the-art CCTV and intruder alarm System.

There were four main challenges that we faced. The hotel covered a substantially large area including a forest reserve,proper integration of the CCTV surveillance system with the intruder alarm system was a major requirement, viewing of camera footage remotely from the Golden Tulip in Accra and finally, the entire system had to be completed within 4 weeks after the award of the contract.
